Summersville Cardinals Summer Baseball News

The Summersville Cardinals 9-10 Summer Baseball team kicked off their season with a game at Winona on May 23. After a very tough game, the Cardinals fell one run short in the last inning, ending the game 9 to 8.

During the first inning, the Cardinals scored one run and gave up two. By the end of the second inning, the boys were down 6 to 1, but Coach Johnson rallied the team and the Cardinals made a comeback in the third. Tied 6 to 6 at the beginning of the fourth inning, our boys played with heart to score two more runs. Time was called and the inning had to be finished, allowing Winona one more round at the plate.

    Jacks Fork River

    June 18, 2016. Come join a ranger to float from Bay Creek to Alley and wet a lure in the Jacks Fork trophy smallmouth bass area. Participants can expect to learn lure selection, casting techniques and catch/release practices. Participation will be limited to 12 individuals.     Reynolds Catches State-Record Spotted Bass

    Jason Reynolds broke the state record by catching a 2-pound, 11-ounce spotted bass with a jug line on Truman Lake May 11, 2016.

    The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reports Jason Reynolds of Warsaw became the most recent record-setting angler in Missouri when he hooked a spotted bass on Truman Lake on a jug line. The new “alternative method” record spotted bass, caught by Reynolds on May 11 weighed 2-pounds, 11-ounces with a length of 17 1/2 inches.

    Conservation Department to Host Youth Bowfishing Clinic

    Bow fishing is an exciting sport combining aspects of both hunting and fishing.

    The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a Youth Bowfishing Clinic for ages 12 to 17, Saturday, June 4, at 6 p.m., at Udall access on Norfork Lake, south of Tecumseh.

    Get Hooked on Fishing With MDC Free Fishing Days June 11 and 12

    Get hooked on fishing with the Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) Free Fishing Days June 11 and 12. During Free Fishing Days, anyone may fish in the Show-Me State without having to buy a fishing permit, trout permit, or trout park daily tag. Normal regulations remain in effect, such as limits on size and number of fish an angler may keep. Special permits may still be required at some county, city, or private fishing areas.

    Sport Physicals Offered for Area Athletes

    The Texas County Memorial Hospital Medical Complex is sponsoring sport physicals for area high school and middle school athletes at the TCMH Medical Complex on Wednesday, May 18 from 2 to 6 p.m.

    Reeds Spring Fisherman Takes State-Record Freshwater Drum

    The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reports that Joshua Cole of Reeds Spring became the most recent record-breaking fisherman in Missouri when he shot a freshwater drum on Table Rock Lake using a bow and arrow. The new “alternative method” record drum taken by Cole on March 31 weighed 30-pounds, 15-ounces. It was 33 inches long and had a girth of 30 inches. He shot the fish around 10 p.m. about one mile from Point 10 on Table Rock Lake.
