A fresh coat of paint brightens up any room, and this summer, Summersville R-11 Schools will receive 40 gallons of paint to refresh its learning environment. Summersville R-11 Schools were selected as the winner of a paint grant through Waggoner True Value Home Center’s partnership with True Value Foundation’s ‘Painting a Brighter Future’ program. A True Value Foundation paint grant helps renew an atmosphere that sets a positive tone for educators to teach children to learn.

Partnering with True Value Foundation, Waggoner True Value Home Center, notified neighborhood schools of the grant last fall and encouraged them to apply. Summersville Superintendent, Merlyn Johnson has applied for the grant over the past few years and was thrilled to learn that the

    Mill Restoratrion Auction Raises $1143

    And the winner of the Steven's 320- 12 gauge Shotgun is: Dale Weaver of Eminence. Charlie Richardson, son of Mark and Theresa Richardson, drew the lucky ticket on Saturday at 11 a.m. during the auction. Thank you to all who bought tickets. The raffle raised $917.

    The auction was held under the big old tree next to the mill. $1,143 was raised towards our budget to get the mill re-stained, trim painted, gutters and basement treated. Thanks

    MSHP Reports Area Accidents

    A minor injury accident occurred on June 11 at 9:16 p.m. in Douglas County on MO Rt. 14, 3 miles north of Dora. The accident occurred as the 1986 Chevrolet C20 Pickup, driven by Melinda E. Roberts, 17 of Pomana, ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Roberts, who was not wearing a safety device, was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center(OMC) in West Plains. The accident was investigated by Tpr C. J. Mendez assisted by Msg C. A. Hogue and Tpr J. R. Roberts.

    Willow Springs Arts Council, Continued from Page 1

    The July session is entitled “Urban Art Adventures”. On July 12, the painting will be a Bicycle done in a more abstract manner and feature positive and negative spaces. July 13 will be an abstract in multi-media in a graffiti style. And, on July 14, they will paint a Bridge with perspective angles.

    Willow Springs Arts Council to Hold

    The Willow Springs Arts Council is very excited to announce sponsorship of a Summer Art Camp open to all children from the First through Eighth grades to be held at the Ferguson Building in Willow Springs. This annual event is also sponsored in part by a grant through the Missouri Arts Council. Classes will run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and held on June 14, 15, 16, and July 12, 13, and 14. There will be six different activities and children can attend any or all sessions.

    RABS to Hold Auction

    The Summersville Mill Restoration Project, will be holding an Auction this Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m. on the mill grounds. The purpose is to raise funds for maintenance, insurance, re-staining and painting the outside, basement work and gutters. This is just a sampling of the ongoing upkeep of this historic site.
