Raymondville to Hold 65th

The 65th Annual Raymondville Picnic and Carnival is scheduled for June 16, 17 and 18 at the Village Fairgrounds. The three day event will include music, dancing, food booths, traditional games, bingo, vendor booths, a Scottish Dance program in traditional costumes, several special interest displays, carnival rides and special programming. Bingo and carnival rides will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s picnic event will include two raffles. One, sponsored by the village “Blue Heaven Club” will offers four different vacation packages, which include a variety of local and regional favorites from passes to Silver Dollar City, tickets for the Branson Show Boat Branson Belle, the “Baldknobbers Show” rides, vouchers to the St. Louis Gateway Arch Tram, and two tickets to Six Flags Amusement Park near St. Louis. All proceeds will support the Blue Heaven Club’s charitable work in the Raymondville community.

The Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a “Rifle Raffle” for a Delton AR-15 and a NRA edition of the Ruger Take-Down. Raffle tickets makes the buyer eligible for both rifles. All monies raised will be announced on Saturday evening, June 18 at the Bingo Booth.

Among the event’s highlights are the Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department exhibits, the Lions’ Club International offering free hearing tests. Each night’s musical entertainment will feature a different band. Thursday will highlight the dancing music of Garold McCoy & the South 63 Band. Friday will highlight Gene DeWitt & the Country Survivors, and Saturday dance music will feature Roy Stevenson & Together Again band.

The three day event includes free admission and free parking. Advanced ticket/armbands for the carnival can be purchased at the Raymondville Village Office, the Raymondville T.R.A.I.N. Computer Lab, E. Marie’s Express, the Raymondville grocery, and at the Landmark Bank location in Houston and Licking. Ticket/armbands can also be purchased at the carnival midway ticket booth.
